Тhe art project My Mogilev has begun in the oblast capital. The project is dedicated to the 750th anniversary of the city. The opening ceremony took place in the Mogilev city hall on 30 May, BelTA has learned.

Artists from nine countries will take part in the creative forum. Those are Oxana Yevdokimenko (Belarus), Alena Shapovalova (Russia), Vugar Ali (Azerbaijan), Poonam Chandrika Tyagi (India), Wang Baifu (China), Tomas Rudokas (Lithuania), Burhan Ahmeti (Macedonia), Shukhrat Abdumalikov (Uzbekistan), and Inna Pantelemonova (Ukraine).

The artists will go on a tour of Mogilev to get familiar with various parts and nooks of the oblast capital. The guests will walk Mogilev streets to appreciate the city’s places of interests and sights. “We are accustomed to seeing our city from one angle while artists have their own point of view on everyday things,” noted Deputy Chairwoman of the Mogilev City Executive Committee Alla Galushko. “They pay attention to minor details, which give us a glimpse of the city from another side due to their color, texture, or style.”

The guests will work in Mogilev for nearly two weeks. It is difficult to say now what their paintings and drawings will picture. “They are creative people. A lot depends on their mood and inspiration,” noted Alla Galushko. “Some of them may create only one work while other ones will be inspired to create a series. All the pictures will be presented as a gift to the oblast capital in timing with the city’s 750th anniversary.”

The art project will result in an exhibition Mogilev in the Eyes of Guests. The exhibition will open in the Mogilev History Museum on 28 June, City Day. Once the exhibition is over, the pictures will be transferred into the museum’s reserve.
