International training camp in Staiki gathers judokas from 34 countries

MINSK, 27 July (BelTA) – The international training camp has gathered nearly 400 judokas from 34 countries in Staiki National Olympic Center, head coach of the Belarusian national judo team Leonid Svirid told BelTA.

“Training camps are an important part of preparation for athletes. They provide judokas with necessary experience for international competitions and help hone their skills. Staiki has gathered some 400 athletes from 34 countries,” Leonid Svirid noted.

Athletes hold up to 18 bouts a day. Belarusian judokas are also taking part in the camp. Among those training in Staiki is gold medalist of the 2017 European Judo Open Men & Women Darya Skrypnik (-52kg) and bronze medalist of the competitions Daniela Kazanoi (63kg). 2016 Olympic champion Lukas Krpalek of the Czech Republic (-100kg) is also attending the camp.

The training camp in Staiki will be over on 29 July. The nearest competitions are the 2017 World Judo Championships which are due in Budapest from 28 August to 3 September.
