Gaidukevich: Belarus needs greater national unity

The recent meeting of Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko with experts and journalists was very interesting and informative, First Deputy Chairman of the Liberal Democratic Party of Belarus Oleg Gaidukevich said sharing his impressions of the meeting with reporters, BelTA has learned.

“I had several questions; however, this frank conversation provided answers to all of them. I travel a lot across Russia, the European Union and defend Belarus’ position. Things will be easier for me now. I know what I will say. I think, many got answers to many questions they had concerning foreign and domestic policy,” the politician said.

Oleg Gaidukevich emphasized that he made the following conclusion for himself: at present Belarus needs a greater national unity. “The president should rely on all political parties regardless of their agendas, because this will benefit the entire country. Maybe, this was the most important message for me during this conversation. We might have different views on the economy and politics. But this is our country, this is our president. We should rally round him and move forward, because things around Belarus are alarming,” he noted.

“We have two important events ahead – the presidential and parliamentary elections. Our task is to conduct them in a calm way so that no one will have an opportunity to cause turmoil here. That is what I heard from the president today. Apart from that, he gave a frank and fair account of the economy, domestic and foreign policy. I am satisfied. These seven hours flew by very fast, because it is indeed very interesting to learn something new,” Oleg Gaidukevich said.
