Belarusian, Russian paratroopers work out ahead of active phase of tactical exercise

Belarusian and Russian paratroopers carried out a joint control drill ahead of the active phase of a tactical exercise involving reconnaissance units of special operations forces, representatives of the Belarusian Defense Ministry told BelTA.

As part of the drill they had to skydive and land in an urban area. They had to land in a specified area while bypassing all kinds of natural and artificial obstacles such as lakes, residential buildings, motorways with traffic and construction sites. The troops had to wear bulletproof vests and helmets and carry a set of weapons used during an army exercise.

After the landings the personnel demonstrated their military healthcare skills, the ability to set up anti-armor mines and meet physical training standards.

The active phase of the Belarusian-Russian tactical army exercise will take place in the exercise area Pesochnoye, Ivanovo Oblast, Russia on 7-9 September.
