CHECHERSK DISTRICT, 29 April (BelTA) – Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko stressed the importance of meeting the spring planting deadlines during his working visit to Chechersk District on 29 April, BelTA has learned.

After arriving in Chechersk District Aleksandr Lukashenko was first of all interested in the progress made in spring planting works and also yield forecasts. The head of the local agricultural company Otor updated the Belarusian leader on the situation in her company. Belarusian Agriculture and Food Minister Igor Brylo reported on the spring planting process across the country.

According to the minister, spring planting in the country was completed on almost 40% of the designated areas. Grodno Oblast is leading with more than 55% of areas planted. Mogilev Oblast completed planting on 17.1% of its areas.

Igor Brylo added that there were no problems with seeds, fertilizers, equipment and fuel.

“I do not think we will have any problems with fuel. We will have absolutely no problems with fuel on the domestic market,” Aleksandr Lukashenko said.

Speaking about seed production, the head of state paid special attention to the need for the country to procure its own seeds. Belarus now imports elite varieties. “We should also look at import substitution here. We should try to grow our own seeds,” said the president.

The head of state was also interested in fodder conservation and the situation with land reclamation.

During his visit to the agricultural company Otor Aleksandr Lukashenko got familiar with the silage maize sowing process.

Then the president visited a local dairy farm. The head of state was shown the production process and told about the economic performance of the enterprise.

The farm has over 4,300 cattle. In January-February 2022, the company earned Br2.1 million on the sale of goods, which is up 43% compared with the same stretch a year ago. Return on sales reached nearly 17%.
