Belarus, India discuss cooperation prospects

Belarusian Transport and Communications Minister Aleksei Lyakhnovich held a meeting with Indian Ambassador to Belarus Alok Rajan Jha to discuss the prospects of cooperation between the two countries on 24 August, BelTA learned from the Telegram channel of the Belarusian ministry.

The Belarusian minister and the Indian ambassador praised the years-long positive experience of cooperation between the two countries in the transport sector.

The Belarusian airline Belavia launched regular weekly flights from Minsk to Delhi and back on 11 August 2023. Belarus is also interested in developing freight transportation using the infrastructure of the North-South international transport corridor.

During the meeting Aleksei Lyakhnovich expressed confidence that bilateral cooperation would add an additional impetus to transportation along the North-South transport corridor. According to him, it will have a positive impact on the transportation industries of the two countries, as well as on the overall economic development of the states.

The parties also discussed Belarus' participation in the Global Maritime India Summit, which is due to take place in the Indian capital New Delhi on 17-19 October 2023.
