Aviation Department representatives off to Irkutsk to investigate An-12 plane crash
Representatives of the Aviation Department of the Belarusian Transport and Communications Ministry have left for the Russian city of Irkutsk in order to participate in the investigation of the An-12 aircraft crash, which happened on 3 November, the ministry's press service told BelTA.
The Belarusian side was told that the aircraft's flight data recorders had been found and their serial numbers match Aviation Department records.
The source said: “A number of mass media reported that allegedly the aircraft had not been de-iced when leaving Yakutsk. We would like to explain that de-icing is done only to enable an aircraft to depart. The crew can turn on the de-icing system in flight.”
The ministry also said that they are working with Russian colleagues to organize the delivery of the dead bodies.
