Belarus to take part in OSCE Code of Conduct conference in Stockholm
Representatives of the Belarusian Armed Forces will take part in a conference on the Code of Conduct on Politico-Military Aspects of Security in Stockholm on 30 September and 1 October, BelTA learned from the Defense Ministry.
The participants of the event are set to exchange experience in the implementation of the principles and obligations enshrined in the Code of Conduct in the field of European security and arms control, and also in the field of democratic control over the armed forces.
Adopted in 1994, the Code of Conduct is one of the main OSCE documents defining the principles of activities and commitments of participating states in the military-political sphere.
Under the document, each state party undertakes to enshrine in its national legislation the commitments under the Code of Conduct. The annual exchange of information between OSCE participating states in the form of responses to the questionnaire is central to the proper implementation of the provisions of the Code of Conduct.
Every year the Defense Ministry prepares reports on the application of the provisions of the Code of Conduct in the Armed Forces of Belarus for the OSCE Secretariat.
