Kochanova, Metropolitan Veniamin discuss state-church cooperation
Chairperson of the Council of the Republic of the National Assembly of Belarus Natalya Kochanova held a working meeting with Metropolitan Veniamin of Minsk and Zaslavl, Patriarchal Exarch of All Belarus on 31 August, BelTA learned from the press service of the upper chamber of parliament.
According to the chairperson of the Council of the Republic, the meeting has been dictated by the times. “At a recent onsite meeting of the Presidium of the Council of the Republic, held at the spiritual and educational center of St. Euphrosyne Monastery in Polotsk, we discussed approaches and a program of further joint actions in the work to effectively influence the negative processes associated with alcoholism. It is time we took stock of the results of the joint activity,” said Natalya Kochanova.
The speaker of the Council of the Republic and the Patriarchal Exarch of All Belarus also discussed issues of spiritual and patriotic education of the rising generation and the youth, cooperation between the state and the church and many others.
