Mobile educational center for refugee children launched
A mobile educational center has conducted the first lessons for refugee children, BelTA has learned.
Refugees have been stranded at the Belarusian-Polish border for 47 days already. They are living in the temporary accommodation facility set up at the Bruzgi logistics hub near the border. There are about 600 people. There are many of them are women and children among them. A mobile educational center set up next to the transport and logistics center has opened today. The project has been implemented by the main education department of the Grodno regional administration and UNICEF.
Two heated modules have been fitted out with necessary multimedia equipment, and also internet connection, office furniture. There is water and fruits for children.
"Classes are conducted by teachers and psychologists from Grodno, and also volunteers from among refugees. The emphasis is on psychological work, psychological relief of children through classes and games," said Ruslan Abramchik, head of the main education department of the Grodno regional administration. On the first day, the center is dealing with organizational issues, defining the order of children's classes, and setting up groups.
First of all, classes will be organized for children of primary school age. Ruslan Abramchik noted that video lessons will be provided in their native language. Subjects for teaching have been agreed with Iraqi representatives of UNICEF. "First of all, these are mathematics, native and foreign languages, environmental studies and drawing. These subjects can be taught to children of similar age groups in co-education," he stressed.
The school will be running as long as necessary.
