Mogilev regional hospital of medical rehabilitation returns to normal operation
The Mogilev Regional Hospital for Medical Rehabilitation is returning to normal operation. During the increase in the incidence of COVID-19, the institution was redesigned into an infectious diseases hospital. The head physician of the hospital Boris Derevtsov told about this.
“Our hospital has good technical equipment, which made it possible to quickly restructure its work for the treatment of covid patients. We worked as an infectious diseases hospital in the first wave for two months, in the second - from the beginning of October last year to the present day. During this time, we received patients with coronavirus pneumonia for follow-up care, '' said Boris Derevtsov. - The consequences of the disease affect all body systems and especially the lungs. Such people need oxygen - we have 85 oxygen points deployed for these needs. It also happens that the viral infection has passed, the person is no longer contagious, but he cannot be prescribed - he needs long-term oxygen support. In addition, we have developed a whole range of physiotherapeutic measures to help people recover faster. "
To provide all the necessary conditions for the treatment of patients with coronavirus infection, the hospital organized special boxes and gateways, developed routes for the sick and for doctors and medical personnel.
“It is worth noting that our entire healthcare sector has shown that, if necessary, we quickly and accurately develop action algorithms, we were fully provided with all the necessary personal protective equipment and medicines. Our oxygen points are powered by cylinders, therefore, during the work with covid, these cylinders were brought to us from Orsha every two or three days. After that, the chairman of the Mogilev regional executive committee raised the issue of creating its own oxygen substation on the basis of the hospital - the design and estimate documentation is already ready and the construction of an oxygen barrel for 5 tons will begin in the near future, ”said the head physician of the hospital.
As Boris Derevtsov noted, this was an invaluable experience for the hospital staff and all doctors in the country. “During this time, we have all learned a lot: to observe precautions and personal hygiene, to react quickly and rebuild to the new work format. The doctors and nurses at our hospital even took a special exam on how to properly remove the protective suit when leaving the red zone. In general, all structures worked clearly and quickly. In our area, competent and correct decisions were made to re-profile institutions, develop all the algorithms and necessary instructions. The incidence is now on the decline and we will soon be back to our normal work. After all, in addition to the coronavirus, other diseases remained, people continue to need medical rehabilitation, ”the head physician emphasized.
Currently, the hospital for medical rehabilitation processes and disinfects premises, bedding and apparatus. “We have started processing - from the upper floors we are moving down. In each ward, it is necessary not only to process the premises, but also all medical equipment, furniture, bedding, ventilation and bathrooms, - said Olga Deduk, the chief nurse of the hospital of medical rehabilitation. - This is a huge work, behind which the entire team of our hospital stands. Everyone was sympathetic to the situation and no one was left on the sidelines. Of course, at first we were all a little scared. But all the work of our hospital was focused primarily on preventing the infection of our employees. It is important that everyone rallied in this situation. We were able not only to work effectively, but also to keep the team. "
As the head nurse said, from the beginning of spring, the hospital will already begin to accept its specialized patients. “In our hospital, people undergo both early and repeated medical rehabilitation. It helps people recover from cerebrovascular accidents, myocardial infarction, reconstructive operations on the heart and blood vessels, orthopedic and traumatological (including after endoprosthetics) and neurosurgical operations, after injuries of the nervous system and musculoskeletal system. We missed our patients, our specialized work. Indeed, in recovering from complex diseases, not only medicines are needed, but also physiotherapy and psychological assistance. There are also those who need the help of a specialist in the correction of speech disorders. Our team is highly qualified professionals,
The Mogilev Regional Rehabilitation Hospital has 183 beds. Now 220 people work here.
